How to adjust the camera positioning of your Tweetycam
Getting the right camera position helps you see your baby clearly and safely while making the most of Tweetycam’s features. Because every sleep space is different, there is no single “perfect” setup. The goal is to start with a safe, well-placed camera, then fine-tune your view using the pan and tilt controls.
This guide walks you through how to find the best camera position, whether you are using a Flexi-Mount, Floor Stand, wall mount, or another stable surface.
Part 1: What makes a good camera view?
No matter how your camera is mounted, a good camera view should:
- Clearly show your baby’s face and upper body
- Be free from obstructions like cot rails or bedding
- Be placed out of baby’s reach
- Be secured to a stable, immovable mount
- Have no cords within baby’s reach
Always make sure the camera is firmly secured and cannot fall or be pulled down. Cords should never be accessible to your baby under any circumstance.
Part 2: Choosing where to place your camera
Tweetycam can be positioned in several ways, depending on your setup:
- Flexi-Mount: ideal for flexible, adjustable positioning as long as cords are safely out of reach, like high shelves, hanging wall frames, or curtain rods
- Floor Stand: great for a stable, overhead view and easy height adjustment, like above a bed or cot
- Wall mount: best for permanent nursery or room setups
Choose the option that allows the camera to stay secure, stable, and safely away from your baby.
Part 3: Finding the best physical camera position
Start by positioning your camera:
- Around 1–2 metres away from your child’s sleep space
- Above mattress level, angled downward
- In a position where the camera is fully secured and cannot move or tip
Check the live view on your monitor and make small adjustments until your child’s face and body are clearly visible. Once you are happy with the view, ensure the mount is fully tightened or secured, and that the camera’s cord is out of reach from babies.
Part 4: Fine-tuning your view using pan and tilt
Once the camera is physically positioned, you can fine-tune the view using the pan and tilt feature.
How to enable and use pan/tilt mode
-
With the camera and monitor turned on, press the PAN/TILT button on the monitor. Four triangles will appear on the screen, representing the camera’s movement directions.
- Use the round navigation buttons on the monitor to adjust the camera’s view as needed.
- Press the PAN/TILT button again to exit pan and tilt mode.
Pan and tilt are best used for small adjustments and checking in, rather than replacing proper physical camera placement.
If you need to flip the view on your camera because of how it’s physically positioned, you can also do so.
How to flip the view by °180
- With the camera and monitor turned on, press the MENU button on the monitor.
-
Using the round navigation buttons, move to Settings, represented by a gear icon. Press OK.
-
On the Settings options, navigate to the 0°/180° settings. It is the last on the list. Press OK.
- Navigate between 0° and 180° to flip your view, and press OK to set the view settings. Press MENU to exit.
Part 5: Common camera positioning mistakes to avoid
- Placing the camera within baby’s reach
- Allowing cords to hang inside the cot or sleep space
- Using the Flexi-Mount on a cot when the camera cord is reachable*
- Relying only on pan and tilt instead of securing proper physical placement
- Forgetting to recheck positioning after moving the cot or camera
*The Flexi-Mount should only be used when the camera cord cannot be reached by your baby.
Taking a few extra minutes to position your camera safely and correctly will give you a clear view, reliable monitoring, and peace of mind.
