How to activate VOX mode on your Tweetycam
VOX mode, which stands for Voice-Activated Transmission mode, is one of Tweetycam’s most loved features. When VOX mode is turned on, your monitor screen will automatically switch off to conserve battery after 20 seconds not detecting any noise. It will also temporarily mute all external background noises (except for the ones coming from the camera itself).
On this mode, your monitor will only turn back on when sound is detected from your baby’s room. This means fewer distractions, longer battery life, and hearing instantly when your baby needs you.
Below is a step-by-step guide on how to activate VOX mode on your Tweetycam monitor.
Step 1: Open the Menu
With both your Tweetycam monitor and camera powered on and running, press the Menu button on your monitor.
Step 2: Navigate to the VOX menu
Using the round navigation buttons, scroll through the left-hand menu panel until you reach VOX. This is the second item on the left panel.

Step 3: Open VOX settings
Press to the right of the navigation buttons on the round control pad to enter the VOX menu.
Here, you will see the following options:
-
OFF
-
Low
-
Medium
-
High
These options control VOX sensitivity:
-
High sensitivity means the monitor will wake up at even the softest sounds
-
Medium sensitivity is ideal for everyday use
-
Low sensitivity means only louder sounds will trigger the screen
Step 4: Select your preferred sensitivity
Using the round navigation buttons, highlight your preferred VOX setting and press OK. A star icon will appear next to the selected option, confirming it is active.
Step 5: Exit the Menu
Press the Menu button again to exit the settings. That’s it. VOX mode is now activated!
Your monitor screen will automatically go black to save battery, and it will instantly wake up when sound is detected by the camera.

VOX mode on multi-camera setup
When VOX mode is activated, your Tweetycam monitor will automatically listen for sound across all paired cameras at the same time.*
If a noise is detected in any room, the monitor will wake up and respond based on your current viewing mode.
-
Single View
If your monitor is set to Single View, it will automatically switch to and display the room where the sound is coming from. -
Split-Screen View
If your monitor is set to Split Screen, both camera views will remain on the screen, and a green border will highlight the room where the sound is detected.
This ensures you always know which room the sound is coming from, even when monitoring multiple spaces.

To learn more about setting up and navigating split-screen mode, you can read our guide here: How to use split-screen mode on your Tweetycam monitor.
*Note: for very old versions of Tweetycam, VOX mode can only be activated for multiple cameras when on Scan Mode.
Helpful notes when using VOX mode
-
Make sure your monitor volume is not muted.
A muted monitor is indicated by a mute icon in the upper-left area of the screen. If muted, you will not hear your monitor’s sound even when VOX is triggered. -
To manually wake the screen at any time, simply press any button on the monitor. The screen and sound feed will turn back on so you can check on your baby.
VOX mode is perfect for overnight use, naps, and anytime you want your monitor to work quietly in the background while staying responsive to your baby’s sounds.
